Busy Sunday!

It was a busy Sunday with Church, People to People, Biology Field Trip,  Algebra 1 homework, last minute packing for Brazil and  a little "Quality" time with the family before I leave the country.

Had a wonderful time at church today! Our lesson was Abraham & Lot: Putting others first.  We challenged the children to put others first this week and that included siblings!  Parents, Let me know how that goes ;)
I had the privilege of baptizing three children this weekend. God is so good to pour out his mercy and blessings upon us.  I was touched to be a part of this special day in the lives of these girls.
Then it was a quick change into "big people" clothes and speed to Johnson City to speak at a People to People meeting at ETSU.  It was fun to relive the memory of Madeline's trip to England & France.  I am amazed at what a wonderful young lady she had become.  She also spoke and encouraged students to step out of their comfort zone and embrace their fears.

We dashed back to Blountville and changed into our pond clothes for a wonderful field trip with Michael West. The students took pond samplings, discussed cloraplasts, protozoa,  aerobic and anaerobic bacteria.  Who knew the pond was so educational?  :)

After our exciting trip to the pond, we had to tackle some Algebra 1, special thanks to Ed West for helping. n+5=12??!!?  :) Then we had the "freak out moment" oh my, I'm flying out tomorrow! Where is that power converter?? Where is my passport??  Thank you Tamie Wells for volunteering to lend me your power converter/adapter.  Thankfully, Macey knew exactly where mine was.  I should have asked her first. Kids remember everything!

Finally, it was time to chill out with the girls. Macey wanted to watch "Rio" since it has a Brazilian theme and that is where I am going tomorrow :))

Respect

Had a blast talking about respect this week at Holston, Tri-cities Christian & Central heights elementary schools.

Tabitha Brown joined us and talked about the differences between wolves and huskies since out animal for the month was a wolf. I told the kiddos that Bays Mtn Park would not loan the wolves to me :)) lol

video lesson fun: Noah

Xtreme Kids have been working on several videos to help with our teaching.  Sandy & I went to Camp Placid & Appalachian Caverns to video lessons 4 &5.  We had a great time filming them however, we did have one major blooper.  My devotion was on Abraham and I was teaching on Noah.  So... three times in my video I said Abraham instead of Noah.   I am such a geek!  I tried to fix it myself and really did not do a great job. OH Well, At least the kids will have fun laughing at me and hopefully they will learn about Noah despite my boo boo :)

Check out the video for a good laugh! This is the video before I fixed it!

Tower of Babel

We had a blast today learning about the Tower of Babel!
We had a snack & craft all in one. We built our own version of the tower out of pretzels & marshmallows :)

Pine Ridge Indian Reservation

Please pray for Nancy & Emerson Poe as they travel this week to South Dakota to minister to the needs of the residents of Pine Ridge Reservation. As they are handing out clothing and blankets I pray that God's love would be spread. Pine Ridge Reservation, located in South Dakota, is home to the Oglala Sioux Tribe and is 2,000,000 acres large with an estimated population of close to 40,000. The reservation is large, and its needs immense, commensurate with grinding poverty. Unemployment is over 80%, the weather is extreme, and families struggle mightily with crushing financial, housing, health, educational and social issues.

Good Day!

We had a great day today!  We started our new after school program. We picked up 16 children from Indian Springs, Holston, Blountville Elementary and Tri-Cities Christian. Because of staggered Kindergarten, we will pick up the other two children on Friday when they begin school.  We only have 2 spots left in our after school enrichment program. God is good!

Tomorrow, Wednesday, We will begin our outreach with TCCS.  Each Wednesday we pick up children who would like to come to church on Wednesday night.  Most all of the elementary children will be participating in Hip Hop from 4-5. Afterward, they will eat dinner together and attend our New Study "Pilgrim's Progress" from 5:30-6:30. The Middle School & High Schoolers from TCCS will be supervised by Mehiella in room 201 until church begins.

Can't wait to have another awesome day with the kiddos :)
